VoxyAI is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how VoxyAI handles your data across our apps for macOS, iPhone, and iPad. Each app is a standalone application that runs on your device. We do not operate any servers that receive your voice, transcribed text, or AI requests; the only backend we operate is a small set of functions that handle macOS license assignment after purchase and credential signing for enterprise (MDM) deployments (described below), which the free iPhone and iPad apps never contact.
Throughout this policy, the badges below indicate which platform a section applies to:
| Topic | macOS | iPhone & iPad |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Annual license (paid) | Free, no purchases or accounts |
| Pastes into other apps | Yes (Accessibility permission) | No |
| On-device local AI | Apple Intelligence or Ollama | Apple Intelligence (supported devices) or a paired host Mac |
| Can host AI for other devices | Yes (LLM Host) | No (client only) |
| Payment / license services | Paddle, Keygen.sh | None |
On macOS: VoxyAI captures your voice, transcribes it using Apple speech recognition, formats the text using the AI provider you choose, and pastes the result into your active application.
On iPhone & iPad: VoxyAI captures your voice, transcribes it using Apple speech recognition, and formats the text using the AI provider you choose. The result is shown in the app for you to copy or share. The iOS app does not paste into other applications and cannot host AI for other devices.
VoxyAI processes the following types of data:
VoxyAI does not collect personal information such as your location, contacts, or advertising identifiers, and never uses cross-app tracking. Two pieces of data apply to the paid macOS app only, in connection with licensing (see Purchases and Payment Processing): the email address associated with your license, and, if you run a free trial, a device fingerprint used to tie the trial to your Mac. The free iPhone and iPad apps do not collect an email address or any device fingerprint.
VoxyAI uses the Apple Speech Recognition framework (SFSpeechRecognizer), built into macOS, iOS, and iPadOS, to convert your voice to text.
Speech recognition is provided by Apple and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. When on-device recognition is not available for your language or device, audio may be sent to Apple's servers solely to perform the transcription.
VoxyAI does not store any voice recordings. Audio exists only in memory during the brief recording and transcription period. Once speech recognition is complete, all audio data is discarded.
VoxyAI uses AI to format your transcribed text. You choose which AI provider to use, based on your privacy preferences. The options available differ by platform.
For maximum privacy, you can keep AI processing off the public internet. On macOS, use Apple Intelligence or Ollama. On iPhone and iPad, use Apple Intelligence or connect to a host Mac you own. With these options, your text is processed on your own hardware and is never sent to a third-party cloud provider.
When using a cloud AI provider, VoxyAI sends:
VoxyAI does not send: voice audio recordings, personal identifiers, contents of other applications, clipboard history, or file contents from your device.
Your text is sent to a cloud AI provider only when you have explicitly chosen and configured that provider with your own API key, and only after you confirm an in-app notice that identifies what is sent and which provider it is sent to. It is sent directly from your device to that provider and never to VoxyAI or any backend we operate.
Once sent, your text is handled under the chosen provider's own privacy policy and terms. We integrate only established providers that publish their own privacy commitments, and we recommend selecting a provider whose data protections are consistent with those described in this policy. We encourage you to review the provider's privacy policy before adding your API key.
VoxyAI lets you turn one of your Macs into a private LLM Host so your other devices can use the local AI models installed on that Mac. A Mac can act as a host; a Mac, iPhone, or iPad can act as a paired client. This feature is entirely optional and off until you enable it.
If you add API keys for cloud AI providers, they are stored securely in the Apple Keychain on your device, Apple's built-in credential management system. API keys are never transmitted to VoxyAI or any backend we operate, never logged or stored in plain text, and are deleted from the Keychain when you remove them from VoxyAI settings.
Accessibility: Used solely to simulate keyboard paste commands and detect the active application. VoxyAI does not read content from other applications, monitor keyboard input, or capture screenshots.
Microphone: Accessed only when you actively trigger a recording session. VoxyAI does not perform background listening or always-on recording.
Speech Recognition: Used to transcribe your recorded audio into text.
Local Network: Used only if you enable LLM Host or pair with another device, to communicate with your own devices.
Microphone: Accessed only when you actively trigger a recording session. VoxyAI does not perform background listening or always-on recording.
Speech Recognition: Used to transcribe your recorded audio into text.
Local Network: Used only if you pair with a host Mac on your local network, to communicate with that Mac.
Camera: Used only when you scan a QR code to pair with a host Mac. VoxyAI does not record or store photos or video.
The iPhone and iPad apps do not request an Accessibility permission and do not paste into or read other applications.
Depending on the platform and the features you use, VoxyAI may communicate with the following external services:
VoxyAI does not use analytics, crash reporting services, advertising networks, or user behavior monitoring tools in any of its apps.
Only the macOS app requires a paid annual license. The iPhone and iPad apps are completely free, contain no in-app purchases or subscriptions, and do not require an account. The services below apply to the macOS app only.
In support of the paid macOS app, we operate two small functions on Google Cloud. These are used for licensing and enterprise deployment only. They never receive your voice, transcribed text, AI requests, or personal API keys, and the free iPhone and iPad apps never contact either of them.
Licensing function: When you purchase a license, this function receives your purchase details from Paddle (your email address and name, the transaction, and, for volume purchases, your organization name and seat count) and creates the matching license with Keygen.sh. It also lets the checkout page retrieve your new license key, and lets the macOS app register a free trial. Trial registration sends a device fingerprint and device name so the trial can be tied to that Mac. This trial fingerprint is generated only on macOS; the iPhone and iPad apps are free and never create or send one.
Enterprise config-signing function: Used only by organizations that deploy VoxyAI through Mobile Device Management (MDM). To sign a managed configuration, the macOS app sends an irreversible SHA-256 hash of the already-encrypted configuration, along with the organization license key and name; the function validates the license and returns a signature. The configuration's sensitive contents, such as API keys, DLP patterns, and blocked keywords, never leave the administrator's machine, because only the hash is transmitted.
Purchases of the macOS license are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), who acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions. Paddle collects your payment information, email address, and billing address. VoxyAI does not receive or store your payment card information.
See Paddle's Privacy Policy.
macOS software licenses are managed by Keygen.sh. Your license key is validated against their servers, and your email address is associated with your license.
See Keygen.sh's Privacy Policy.
VoxyAI implements security measures including: API keys stored in the encrypted Apple Keychain, HTTPS encryption for all cloud communications, end-to-end encryption for device pairing, and secret scanning to prevent accidental inclusion of API keys in formatted text. VoxyAI does not operate servers that receive your voice, transcribed text, or AI requests; the only backend we run is the pair of macOS licensing and enterprise-signing functions described under Purchases and Payment Processing.
VoxyAI is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
Because VoxyAI keeps processing on your device and runs no backend that receives your voice, transcribed text, or AI requests, almost all of your data stays on your own device and is fully under your control: you can view, change, or delete it in the app, and uninstalling the app removes your preferences and stored keys. The only data held off your device is the macOS license and billing information processed by our licensing service and by Paddle and Keygen.sh.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete that license and billing information, or to object to its processing. To make such a request, contact us using the details below and we will work with our payment and licensing providers to fulfill it.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our apps or legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date at the top will be revised when changes are made.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or VoxyAI's privacy practices, you can email us at support@voxyai.io or use the contact form on our Support page.
